"It's hard to be humble” - a song by Jill West
Copper Cayuse guest, Jill West, recently wrote this song about her experience with CCO. Jill and her women’s slow pitch team joined us from Ontario for an overnight expedition. The 3-day tour was excellent with this group. Lots of stories and good laughs.
Jill wrote these lyrics to the music of “It’s Hard to Be Humble” by Mac Davis. Enjoy!
“It's not hard to be humble
when out in the wilds of B.C.
All nature’s beauty surrounds us.
Peace and tranquillity.
Gathering by the campfire 9 women with stories to tell.
When we start drinkin’
Don gets to thinkin’
This heaven could turn into hell.
We’ve travelled here from big cities.
To join this mountain horse trek.
Our muscles are screaming in protest.
From our butts to a pain in the neck.
The years have made us their prisoner.
Yet where would I be instead?
Living is raging and if you're not aging
Frankly my dear, you’d be dead
Personal hygiene’s a challenge
A lick and a promise at best.
It's a long long way to the potty.
Our bladders are put to the test.
But go with the flow and embrace it.
The universe steers it our course.
No matter the power
Or length of the shower
You’re still gunna smell like your horse.
Its been an inspiring journey.
We’re sorry it's drawn to an end.
Some of us arrived as strangers
All of us made a new friend.
With Shelby and Maddie our wranglers.
And Don, the great Head Honcho
We’ll tell everyone
It’s incredibly fun
Next year they’ll all want to go.
Make no excuse
Check out Copper Cayuse
You too will ride like a pro.”

Thanks, Jill!
