2-Hour Ride Recap by Salted Fish Studio

Our new friends from Salted Fish Studio came for a ride this fall at CCO. Here is what Max Liang, owner of Salted Fish, had to say about their 2-hour horse riding experience. Words and photography by Max Liang.

My friend and I, travelling from Vancouver Island, recently went on a 2-hour horse riding tour with Copper Cayuse Outfitters. Their ranch is located in the beautiful Pemberton Valley, away from the city chaos.

I was excited and a little nervous as I hopped on my horse, but my mind was eased to find him very friendly. Soon, we were all set for the adventure conducted by our friendly and professional guide, Elizabeth. I have done horse riding at least three times at other stunning spots, like riding between the mountains of Banff and through the cactus forests in Phoenix at sunset, but my experience with CCO in the Pemberton Valley was unique.

We started with a relaxed ride on winding trails that took us through forests and open fields. The clip-clop of hooves and nature's sounds felt calming. Rolling hills, forests, and distant mountains were all around us. We waded across the river with milky blue glacial water and Elizabeth gave us time to hang around the shoal in the river. The scenery was pure and breathtaking, like something out of a fairy tale.

The horses took a short snack break by the potato fields, which was a perfect spot for them to recharge and for us riders to bond with each other. After the short break, we reluctantly headed back to the stables. The afternoon had been incredible and the connection with my horse and the beauty of the lush valley left a lasting memory. To our surprise, Elizabeth invited us to stay behind a little longer when we returned to the stables, as all horses had finished for the day and were going to be let out all at once. She suggested it could be a perfect moment to take some good pictures. Indeed, she was right, as the photos of sunlight breaking through the flying dust when the horses came out were jaw-dropping.

My horse riding tour was a fantastic adventure, filled with nature, friendship, and unforgettable moments. It reminded me of the simple joy of exploring the outdoors and forming a unique bond with a horse. The wind in my hair, the earthy smell, and my horse's steady steps made me feel alive on a sunny and peaceful afternoon in the valley.

This experience will stay with me for a long time.
